Arri announces new line of 35-mm format digital cameras

So the powerhouse Arri announced their new line of 35-mm format digital cameras recently (http://www.arri.de/camera/35_mm_digital.html), which will be available in mid-2010.

From a producer’s standpoint, this is pretty exciting, as it seems that it has great potential to improve workflows on set, and in post.  This means that you can potentially get more on screen with whatever budget you’re working with – always a good thing.

I’m also pretty excited about this in terms of aesthetics.  I was a reluctant convert to video in school, when at times, we didn’t have the resources to shoot on film.  It seems that the revolution is in fact digital though.

Instead of the pang of sadness that I used to feel at the prospect of the death of film, I’m now truly excited about HD and the possibilities that it holds.

I’m sure that a storied company like Arri won’t fail to impress.
