Leonardo Aponte in Post on Feature Doc

Director Leonardo Aponte has recently returned from Colombia, where he spent five weeks wrapping up the last leg of principle photography for his feature documentary, “Salmona.”  The documentary examines the culture, people, and history of Colombia through the work of renowned architect, Rogelio Salmona.

He was a key figure in the resurgence of Bogotá, and his work promoted social interaction, with the intent of helping to alleviate political and social tensions within Colombia.

Aponte recounted speaking with a cab driver in Bogotá, during the shoot, who was a resident of one of Salmona’s buildings.  He described hearing the cab driver’s enthusiasm for the building in which he lived, as a poignant encounter that really illustrated the effect of Salmona’s work.   Aponte said that it was interesting to see some of the aims of the architect’s work manifested in real people.

Aponte also spoke with many of today’s top architects in Colombia who provided further insight into Salmona’s work.

Now in post production, Aponte is looking forward to weaving together the narrative for this compelling figure, and expects to have a cut of the film by this summer.

We can’t wait to see it!
