Some of the services performed by Explorer Films LLC are designated as taxable services by the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, and as such we are legally required to collect applicable sales tax for those services.

The taxable services that we provide are primarily related to digital/web design and maintenance, and do not apply to our motion picture services. We also make clients aware of which, if any, services are taxable for a particular project. These are also clearly marked on all estimates and invoices.

The web design services that we provide fall under 'Data Processing Services' in the Texas Tax Code (TX Tax Code). Additionally, Tax Code §151.351 provides a 20% exemption for these kinds of services, so only 80% of the value of these services are taxed on our invoices.
